The department is composed of Animal Husbandry and Breeding, Feeds and Animal Nutrition, Biometrics and Genetics Divisions. The aim of our department is to make contribution by conducting scientific research and projects that can solve the problems and fulfill expectations of national and international animal husbandry. In addition, it aims to train qualified engineers who are equipped with contemporary and practical knowledge, who have advanced research and problem-solving skills, who can lead the people around them and who have communication skills. In our department, in addition to 4-year undergraduate education, Master’s Degree and PhD Degree programs are also provided.

Our department will bequeath the honor of deserving its prestigious position on national and international platforms to future generations with the awareness of its responsibility in the development of the country in its own field of service. Our department hosted the 1st National Poultry Congress in 2010, the 10th National Student Congress on Animal Science in 2014, and the Dairy Cattle Symposium with International Participation in 2014 and many scientific conferences and panels, as well. The department, which has all kinds of physical infrastructure for academics, researchers and students, is one of the two Departments of Animal Science among the universities selected as Research Universities in our country with its existing cattle, sheep and goat-raising, beekeeping and poultry branches. In addition to the Animal Nutrition and Feed Analysis Laboratory, Meat and Dairy Products Analysis Laboratory and Animal Physiology and Endocrinology Laboratories of our department, research and educational activities are ongoing by making use of the facilities and infrastructures of Erciyes University Genome and Stem Cell Center (GENKÖK) Laboratories and Erciyes University Agricultural Research and Application Center (ERUTAM). It is an honor to be a member of the department that continues to get stronger day by day in undergraduate and graduate education with the academic staff and national and international research services as well.
