Our faculty was established in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 27 December 2005, numbered 9849 and started its educational activities with 39 students who chose the Agricultural Engineering Program in the 2008-2009 academic year. Since 2019, the faculty has been continuing education with 60 academic staff members, 8 administrative staff members, 985 undergraduate students, and undergraduate programs, 7 of which are active (Horticulture, Plant Protection, Bio-system Engineering, Field Crops, Agricultural Biotechnology, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, and Animal Science), and 3 of which are inactive (Landscape Architecture, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Economics). 306 Master’s Degree and 122 PhD students are having graduate education at the Departments of Horticulture, Plant Protection, Bio-system Engineering, Field Crops, Agricultural Biotechnology, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, Animal Science, and Agricultural Sciences and Technologies in our faculty. Our faculty carries out educational and applied studies in the classrooms and laboratories on the Central Campus and in the agricultural research, application, and production areas affiliated to Erciyes University Agricultural Research and Application Center (ERUTAM). In addition, we have laboratories at the Genome and Stem Cell Center (GENKÖK) of our University, where advanced basic research on plant and animal biotechnology can be carried out by our Faculty.
As the Faculty of Agriculture, our goal is to train agricultural engineers who adopt Atatürk's Principles, respect social and ethical values, can compete in the international arena, can produce original innovative and sustainable solutions to the problems they experience, have high abilities to apply the knowledge they have acquired, are open to development, can work in multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams and can undertake key roles. In line with these goals, the Faculty of Agriculture, which has aimed to be present in international environments and to play active roles since 2008 when we started education, started the Master's Degree and PhD Degree education in English at the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies in 2016 and increased the number of foreign students to 93 in a short time.
The primary goal of our faculty is to provide adequate and qualified education for our students by taking account of the needs of our region and country. In addition, guiding both the regional producers and the agriculture-based industry, producing joint projects and implementing them are among the important goals of our faculty. Our faculty carries out researches in accordance with international norms besides the ones that can be put into practice with its young, dynamic and productive academic staff in order to achieve these goals. In recent years, the employment opportunities for our graduates have been increasing rapidly, and they are employed in the relevant institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and in private institutions.
Our faculty will continue to train engineers who adopt Atatürk's Principles, are equipped with technical knowledge and skills, are open to innovations and communication, have problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities, have entrepreneurial spirit, respect environment, society and ethical values, and use their experience for the welfare of the people of their country and the world. In line with these goals, our faculty has developed rapidly since 2008, when we started education, and has created modern educational and laboratory infrastructures and research farms.
I invite you to have further information about educational and research programs conducted at Erciyes University Faculty of Agriculture.
